Description 

One of the only surviving churches of New York City's Colonial era, this structure was built 1764-66. A place of worship for both American and British military officers during the American Revolution, Washington came here for a special service after his inauguration in 1789. -- National Historic Landmark statement of significance, October 9, 1960
